❯ Anthropic continues preparing a November IPO as draft disclosures detail compute spending and accounting losses
The window remains provisionalReuters reported on October 22, with an October 23 update, that Anthropic was pursuing a mid-November listing, potentially publishing its prospectus in late October and beginning marketing during the week of November 9. The timetable comes from people familiar with the plans and remains subject to change. No final offer price or fundraising amount has been established.
Separate accounting from cashAnthropic sells Claude subscriptions, enterprise services and API access, with Claude Code embedding its models in development work. Reuters’ report carried by KSL put its first-half net loss at $80.7 billion, including about $72 billion in charges from revaluing convertible instruments. Compute and infrastructure spending was nearly $9 billion. The reported loss therefore cannot be described as an equivalent cash outflow.
Obligations accompany growthTechCrunch’s coverage of the draft cited $16.3 billion in first-half revenue, with two customers contributing about one-fifth. Potential future cloud spending above $750 billion includes arrangements still under negotiation. Investors must assess growth alongside customer concentration and dependence on suppliers that also offer competing models. A listing would fund expansion while exposing the distinctions between contracted obligations, proposed agreements and actual spending.
