❯ Arda raises $160 million Series A and discloses an earlier $72 million seed round

Separate the round from the totalArda Industries emerged from stealth on October 20. Its funding announcement disclosed a $160 million Series A at a $1.5 billion valuation, co-led by Altimeter, Accel and Khosla Ventures, plus an earlier $72 million seed round. Total funding is $232 million. Both rounds were disclosed together this week but represent separate financings.

From design files to assemblyFounded by former OpenAI chief research officer Bob McGrew, Arda builds manufacturing-engineering software. A finished product design still requires an assembly sequence, station layout and work instructions, all of which may need revision after design changes. Arda uses CAD and related material to assist that work. Its markets include manufacturers of transformers and electrical equipment in the data-center supply chain.

Engineering before robotic assemblyThe current starting point is engineering software. The longer-term objective is to have agents program robots to execute assembly plans and update production lines as designs change. Funding supports research, engineering and customer deployment; rapidly adaptable automated lines remain a development goal. Purchasing decisions depend on quicker implementation of design changes and engineering savings exceeding software and deployment costs.
