❯ Chen Guangyu is linked to Discovery Loop after leaving Kimi, with the move still unconfirmed
The destination remains unconfirmedThe Korea Times reported on October 21 that anonymous talent-tracking account Arfur Grok linked 17-year-old researcher Chen Guangyu to US startup Discovery Loop after his departure from Moonshot AI. Chen did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and the company declined to discuss personnel. The move cannot yet be presented as a confirmed hire.
Experience in model architectureInfoQ’s account describes Chen’s work on Kimi architecture and training efficiency, including co-first authorship of Attention Residuals. The research uses cross-layer attention to improve aggregation of information from different network layers and was later applied in Kimi K3. His publicly announced departure and his reported destination have different confirmation status.
A possible team focused on AI researchDiscovery Loop was founded by former Google researchers including Jeff Dean, Sanjay Ghemawat, Quoc Le and Oriol Vinyals. It aims to have AI propose hypotheses, organize experiments, analyze results and select subsequent experiments. That direction also requires model and systems expertise, although Chen’s role, start date and responsibilities are not publicly confirmed.
