❯ SAP cloud revenue grows 25% at constant currencies as full-year guidance targets the upper end

Cloud drives quarterly growthSAP’s October 21 results showed cloud revenue of €6.668 billion, up 26% as reported and 25% at constant currencies. Total revenue was €10.270 billion, up 13% and 12%, respectively. Constant-currency figures remove exchange-rate movements to clarify underlying changes.

Orders improve near-term visibilityCurrent cloud backlog reached €24.144 billion, up 28% as reported and 26% at constant currencies. It represents contracted cloud revenue expected to be recognized over the next 12 months. SAP’s finance, HR, procurement and supply-chain systems connect core enterprise operations; cloud migrations also provide a foundation for deploying Business AI and Joule capabilities.

Some growth reflects catch-up revenueSAP says several quarter-specific factors helped cloud revenue, principally a multiquarter catch-up from customers recovering from financial distress. Quarterly revenue therefore includes recognition of earlier business as well as current sales, making backlog an important companion to the growth rate.

Guidance points toward the upper endSAP expects full-year constant-currency cloud revenue toward the upper end of its €25.8–26.2 billion range, with cloud and software revenue also toward the upper end of guidance. Enterprises are migrating business systems while buying AI capabilities, making contracts and subsequent revenue recognition important to growth timing.

▮ SIGNALEnterprise AI adoption is intertwined with core-system cloud migration, and contracted demand plus revenue recognition explain more than a single quarterly growth rate.
