❯ Sentra closes a $150 million Series C led by Capital One Ventures to govern AI agents’ access to enterprise data

A strategic investment and a new roundSentra announced a $150 million strategic capital investment on November 4, led by Capital One Ventures, which will appoint a board representative. A management post the same day explicitly described the Series C as closed. No valuation was disclosed. Funding will expand product capabilities and sales channels.

Knowing who can reach whatSentra discovers and classifies sensitive enterprise data, then maps access rights to employees, service accounts and AI agents. It can revoke access or fix risky sharing when anomalies occur and retain records for review. Enterprises buy visibility into which data AI can reach and the ability to restrict that access promptly as they adopt it.

From public cloud to multiple environmentsFounded in 2021, Sentra initially helped enterprises understand sensitive data in public clouds, then expanded to SaaS, collaboration tools and on-premises storage. As agents become new data consumers, automated tasks can inherit existing broad permissions. Combining content and identity in one governance process builds on the company’s data-classification capabilities while adding controls for agent use.

Broader coverage and deploymentThe financing will support engineering and product expansion, business in North America and Europe, and channels and sales in new regions. Sentra analyzes data within customer environments instead of first moving sensitive content into its own systems and creating another copy. That approach addresses regulated organizations’ control requirements and affects implementation in complex enterprise environments.

▮ SIGNALAgents amplify the consequences of existing permission settings; Sentra makes the question of which data an agent can reach a continuously managed enterprise capability that precedes decisions about what tasks it can execute.
