❯ Meta acquires Conductor to coordinate multiple coding agents
Acquiring an orchestration platformMeta has acquired AI coding startup Conductor for an undisclosed amount. Axios reported on November 4, citing people familiar with the deal, that its platform lets engineers manage multiple coding agents working simultaneously. CEO Charlie Holtz and CTO Jackson de Campos founded the company in 2024.
Organizing parallel developmentWhen separate agents modify features, investigate issues and run tests, developers need to assign work, follow progress and review results. Conductor supplies the interface and workflow for that coordination. According to the CEO’s statement relayed by Techmeme, the team will join Meta Superintelligence Labs, bringing developer-tool capability into Meta’s model and product ecosystem.
Development interfaces attract buyersThe deal comes on the same day OpenAI announced plans to acquire developer-tools company Pierre Computer. Axios describes Pierre as focused on storing and managing code, while Conductor coordinates parallel agents. These tools control project assets and daily interactions, respectively, extending model companies’ developer products across more of the software-development process.
▮ SIGNALAs coding agents multiply, task allocation and result review become more important, making orchestration interfaces valuable assets in the competition for developers.
