❯ Nvidia RTX PRO 5500 orders in China exceed 6 million as deliveries shape inference expansion
Large orders draw renewed attentionOn November 4, a Bloomberg report relayed by Techmeme put Chinese orders for Nvidia’s RTX PRO 5500 at about 6 million cards, worth roughly $70 billion, with buyers expecting only about 1% within four months. Concentrated demand makes delivery timing and allocations critical variables.
Three buyers account for a substantial shareReuters reported on October 20 that ByteDance, Alibaba and Tencent had ordered more than 3 million cards at a combined sticker price above $35 billion. Total orders from customers in China already exceeded 6 million. The three companies’ purchases form part of that wider total.
Serving trained modelsThe RTX PRO 5500 is a professional workstation graphics card. Buyers primarily intend to use it for AI inference: running trained models to answer ongoing requests. Reuters said Nvidia could not guarantee full delivery and had indicated early samples in December and commercial shipments in the first quarter of 2027. The resulting service capacity will emerge as hardware arrives and is deployed.
▮ SIGNALInference demand extends procurement competition into delivery schedules: card allocations and deployment dates directly shape how much traffic a model service can handle.
