❯ SpaceX raises its 2027 data-center target to about 13GW as SemiAnalysis tracks construction

A target rises from 10GW to 13GWSemiAnalysis’s latest analysis says SpaceX raised its 2027 data-center capacity target from about 10GW to 13GW. The research firm compares that scale with Google’s cumulative data-center capacity built from 1999 through 2026, illustrating the pace of construction required.

Construction has begun on some sitesSemiAnalysis says it has identified more than 9GW of potential capacity, with about 3.6GW under construction. Its tracking includes Colossus expansions and terrestrial sites such as Starbase in Texas, with parts of rocket production and launch campuses being repurposed. The 13GW figure remains a target, supported by a mix of construction and prospective sites.

Power must follow buildingsThe firm tracks over 8GW of associated power supply, below the data-center capacity it has identified, with some power arrangements developing alongside construction. It reports roughly 5.9GWh of battery storage being installed at Colossus 2, alongside on-site generation and grid-connection work. Storage can shift energy use across time, while continuous operation still needs adequate, reliable supply.

Coordinating the buildThe analysis describes simultaneous work on campuses, construction teams, modular equipment and power infrastructure. Achieving the target would expand compute for internal model training and external customers. Individual projects currently differ in construction status, power connections and customer launch timing.

▮ SIGNALCompute expansion increasingly depends on coordinating buildings, equipment and power, with electricity schedules determining when new capacity becomes usable.
