❯ Xiaomi pilots robots in youth apartments after completing more than 50 household tasks

A sequence of chores across several roomsXiaomi disclosed on November 3 that a system built on Xiaomi-Robotics-1 had begun pilot operation in its youth apartments, IT Home reported. In the company’s demonstration, the robot ran for more than 30 minutes, covered three rooms and completed over 50 tasks, including preparing tools, tidying desks and sofas, collecting rubbish and returning objects, followed by room and whole-apartment inspections.

A foundation model connects perception and actionThe embodied model converts environmental information and instructions into robot actions. Xiaomi has built a surrounding loop for data collection, inference and execution. Xiaomi-Robotics-1 launched in July, followed by open model and deployment resources. It was pre-trained on more than 100,000 hours of real manipulation trajectories, with post-training across robot configurations supporting adaptation to different hardware and consecutive tasks.

Factories and homes supply different task dataXiaomi’s industrial update described an eight-hour workstation challenge sorting center-console side covers at its car factory, providing initial validation of full-shift tasks and autonomous correction of abnormalities. The home system remains a youth-apartment pilot and has yet to reach ordinary households. Data from different rooms, objects and task sequences will support further improvement in transitions between domestic tasks.
