Buying apps to fix themBending Spoons buys existing digital products and makes them more profitable by reorganizing teams, rebuilding technology, redesigning interfaces, speeding development and changing marketing and pricing, then buys the next. Its brands include Evernote, Vimeo, WeTransfer, Eventbrite, AOL and Airtable, and it says it has never sold a material business. The filing says AI is often both the goal and the tool of an overhaul.
Money for more dealsProceeds go to general purposes and new acquisitions. It has been busy: it completed the Airtable acquisition on September 4 and agreed on September 10 to buy online whiteboard company Miro for $1.355 billion.
